Chilla / Vegetarian Omelet

It's times like these when I'm thankful for those few recipes that can be made with whatever I have in my kitchen and this Chilla recipe is just that.Chilla is a very common breakfast made in North Indian household.Now this dish is also included in various restaurants and even in the menu of marriage party.It's very delicious and cook in no time and very easy to make and can be made almost anything or everything.It look like omelet hence known as Vegetarian Omelet and It is savoury pancake  commonly made with gram flour or samolina or different lentils.We have grown up eating chela in breakfast and my mom use to make varieties of Chilla.
I often make This and enjoy it with my favourite chutney.Today I am making vegetables Chilla by mixing vegetables in gram flour.(depending upon what's available in my kitchen:) I made it on a nonstick tawa that's why chela becomes crispy and oil free.What a healthy way to start the day....Crispy and crunchy besan Chilla ...Indian way of making pancake...full of flavour and super delicious...So take a note of recipe and enjoy this yummy Chilla....

Ingredients:

  1. Gram flour-3/4 cup
  2. Semolina-3/4 cup
  3. Onion-1 finely chopped 
  4. Tomato-1 finely chopped 
  5. Capsicum-1/2 finely chopped 
  6. Chopped coriander leaves-2 ts
  7. Curd -1/2 cup
  8. Carrot-1/4 cup grated

Procedure:

  • In a bowl take gram flour,semolina ,salt,red chilli powder little bit,chopped coriander leaves and green chilli and chopped veggies,Mix everything together.
  • Add curd and water and whisk to make a smooth batter and keep aside for few minutes.Heat a nonstick tawa and grease it with oil.Pour better on Tawa.
  • Then fry till golden brown and crispy from both sides.Serve Chilla hot with coriander chutney and tomato ketchup.
