Greek Revani Cake

Revani is a traditional Greek dessert which falls under the' siropiasta' which means syrupy Greek dessert and it is also called as ' basbousa ' in Turkey.It is a fluffy,moist,cooling,extra syrupy and mouthwatering traditional semolina cake with the flavour and aroma of zesty syrup.I really enjoyed making this quick,easy& delightful cake and everyone at home relished each spoon of this syrupy semolina cake and gave me a Mediterranean feel making it.Give this traditional cake a try and amaze your family &friends !!

Ingredients:

  1. All purpose flour-1/2 cup
  2. Semolina-1 cup
  3. Baking powder-1 ts
  4. Baking soda-1/2 ts
  5. Curd-1 cup
  6. Veg oil-1/2 cup
  7. Sugar-1/2 cup
  8. Orange zest-1 ts
  9. For syrup - sugar-1/2cup
  10. Water-1/2 cup
  11. Lemon juice-1 ts
  12. Rose water-1 ts

Procedure:

  • Preheat the oven to180'c and grease the cake tin.
  • Whisk curd with sugar in a wide bowl.Add veg oil & orange zest and whisk well.
  • Take dry ingredients in a bowl and mix with above mixture and whisk well.
  • Pour this batter in the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • Take water,sugar lemon juice and rose water in thick bottom pan and boil for 3-5 minutes.Turn off the flame and pour cold syrup over hot cake.Cut the cake into square pieces and garnish with chopped pistachio and coconut flakes.Note- It is very important to prepare syrup and Cool before the cake is ready.
