Gujarati Methi Thepla

Methi thepla is one of the most common dish made in all Gujarati home almost every day.It is a spiced flatbread made from wheat flour and gram flour with yogurt.Methi  Thepla are light as well as healthy and made from fenugreek leaves,whole wheat flour and gram flour.The Thepla dough is usually knead in curd instead of water and it's stay for long time & taste remains same too.Thepla have their long self life So it is great dish to Carry in travelling.
I always serve my thepla with some pickles and a hot cup of masala chai .My favourite way to eat it or any paratha just dip in the tea and eat then to have it  with pickle:)It's divine!!!

Ingredients:

  1. Whole wheat flour-1cup
  2. Gram flour/ besan-1 1/4 cup
  3. Methi leaves-1 cup
  4. Curd or yoghurt-1 cup

Procedure:

  • Rinse methi leaves in water,drain and chop finely.In a mixing bowl take wheat flour,besan,chopped Methi leaves ,spices (red chilli powder,turmeric powder,coriander powder,cumin powder and salt) and 1ts oil.
  •  Mix everything well.Add curd and knead into a smooth and firm dough.
  • Take a small size ball of dough and roll it on a rolling pin.Roll the Thepla as thin as possible.On a hot tawa place the Thepla and cook from both sides applying oil/ ghee until it becomes slight brown and cooked evenly from both sides.Serve hot with plain curd or pickles.
