Sabudana Khichdi/Tapioca pearls Or Sago Khichadi

sabudana khichadi is an easy,popular Maharashtrian breakfast dish and that's prepared commonly in every household.This khichadi is made of tapioca pearls  sautéed with potatoes with delicious roasted peanut powder or peanuts mildly spicy from the green chillies with a hint of tanginess from the lemon juice.The sabudana khichadi is loaded with carbohydrates and proteins and high in nutrition.It is a wholesome dish which would give you everything you need to keep up your energy all day long.
I love this beautiful pearly khichadi so much that I can't wait to make it for breakfast almost every week.I feel sago is one of the most wonderful ingredients that you can transform into so many delicious varieties of snacks even dessert too.I absolutely relish it with a side of chilled yogurt....Simple pleasure of life right!The trick in making sabudana khichadi is to soak the sago seeds with just enough water not more & not less about 1 cup.So try this delicious,healthier and nuttier sabudana khichadi and enjoy it any time of the day wheather as a breakfast or as a evening snack ....



Ingredients:

  1. Sabudana-1cup
  2. Potato-1med size chopped 
  3. Tomato-1chopped
  4. Chopped green chillies & gingers-1ts
  5. Peanuts-1/2cup

Procedure:

  • Place sabudana in a colander and wash under cold tap water this takes off most of the starch and prevents sticking.Soak sabudana for 4-5hours just 1/4 inch more than sabudana level.Drain the sabudana and keep aside in a bowl.
  • Heat a kadai with oil and add mustard seeds,cumin seeds.When seeds began to crackle add chopped green chillies & ginger, chopped potatoes and fry for 5-6 minutes till potatoes well cooked.
  • Add peanuts and roast till turn brown and then add chopped tomatoes & sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  • Finally add sabudana ,salt and mix well.Donot over cook as sabudana might become lumpy.Switch off the gas.

  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and drizzle some lemon juice.
