Saag Paneer/ Indian Cottage Cheese with creamy spinach
Winter in India is a wonderful time,Along with cosy blanket and quilts it brings variety of food,vegetables fruits and sweets.This is the time when Subzi Mandi are loaded with lush green saag and green leafy vegetables.Saag paneer is one of the most awaited winter recipe and a very delicious healthy & most relish dish which combines the goodness of spinach with Indian cottage cheese.My love for spinach is indefinite....Try to use it in many of my recipes and paneer makes everything taste better ....The combo together compliments each other perfectly.
Saag Paneer is a popular and scrumptious North Indian curry.This is one of the most loved curry by North Indians.It tastes best with Naan,Paratha ,Roti or Rice and Making this curry is super quick.My palak paneer is simple awesome,intensely flavourful and will set your taste buds tingling!This curry is the ultimate comfort food andI love the rich creamy texture of palak Paneer so I added cream but only 2ts to cutdown the calories:) Imagine how healthy nice it is when you combine lots of green with lots of cheese.Try it once, I am sure you will love it.
Ingredients:
- Spinach-1 med bunch
- Paneer cubes -1 cup
- Chopped onions-1 large size
- Chopped green chilli & ginger-1 ts
- Milk-1/2 cup
- Fresh Cream -2 ts
Procedure:
- Heat oil in a pan ,Add cardamom,cloves,cinnamon sticks and cumin seeds .When they began to splutter ,Add onions & fry until becomes translucent.Add chopped ginger and green chilli and sauté for a while.
- Add all the spices (red chilli powder,coriander powder turmeric powder,Garam masala and salt) and cook until oil Separates from sides.Add puréed spinach and mix well and cook until it begins to bubble for about 2 minutes.
- Add half cup milk and stir.Cook until mixture thickens.Add paneer cubes and mix.
- Switch off the flame and sprinkle dried kastoori methi and drizzle with 2ts fresh cream and serve hot.
