Tandoori Roti is a very popular Indian flat bread recipe traditionally made in Tandoor.Tandoor is a clay oven used in North India and Anything which is cooked in Tandoor called Tandoori.The dough for tandoori roti is like regular chapatis dough and made of whole wheat flour, yogurt ,baking soda and salt .These ingredients and the method of making makes it really desirable.So I usually make tandoori roti for me and hubby.Tandoori roti or Naan is my staple order in restaurant when we dine out.As a big fan of tandoori roti,I tried quite a few method to recreate tandoori roti at home and It gives you the same authentic taste even if it is cooked in oven or Tawa.
Ingredients:
- Whole wheat flour-2 cup
- Ghee-2ts
- Salt-as required
- Yogurt-according to need
- Baking soda-1/2 ts
- Water little bit
Procedure:
- Take flour, ghee,salt ,baking soda in a wide bowl,Mix well with your fingers and knead into a soft dough by adding yogurt and water little by little.
- Take a ball of dough and roll on a rolling pin in a circle.On the top side brush with little water and place this on a heated iron tawa.
- Cook for a minute till bubbles start to come.Flip the tawa upside down as keeping flame medium and rotate the tawa for even cooking and cook till it get golden brown.
- Brush it well with ghee and serve hot.
