Makki Di Roti/ Maize flour Roti
It is a popular Punjabi flat bread made from maize flour and served with sarson da saag.Traditionally this roti is made with hands but it is a bit more difficult to roll it so there is much simpler method to prepare it with plastic sheets or wax paper.In this recipe the main ingredient maize flour which is kneaded well with water.From my own experience making these rotis at home is time consuming and will take lot of practice but I like to say nothing is impossible ...Do try this extremely yummy rotis and share your experience with me ...
Ingredients:
- Maize flour-2 cup
- Warm water -3/4 cup
- Carrom seeds-1/2 ts
- Salt -1/2 ts
Procedure:
- Take maize flour,carrom seeds and salt in a large mixing bowl,Add water little by little .
- Start kneading.Kneading is an essential part of this roti making.Knead the flour with the help of your hands.Add water carefully & knead a thick smooth dough not too tight or soggy.Let it rest for at least 1/2 an hour.After rest knead again the dough for 5 minutes.
- Take a ball of dough and roll by placing plastic sheets on rolling pin.Heat a tawa over high flame.Place the roti gently on tawa.Let It cook on high heat for 10 seconds and flip the roti and cook till get yellow & brown spots.
- Serve hot with butter.
