Classic Arabic Pita Bread

Pita Bread is a soft,slightly leavened flat bread baked from wheat flour and what makes it puff so impressively is the dual action of water turn into steam & yeast becomes hyperactive when both hit with the heat of oven.Food blogging gives me the advantage of not only posting the traditional & regular recipes but also trying new recipes at home & then posting them.
It such a joy to try out unknown recipes,take good shots and then write about them.If you never had pita bread or don't know what it is,this recipe will tell you and you are going to love it.

Ingredients:

  1. All purpose flour-1 cup
  2. Wheat flour-1 cup
  3. Warm water-3/4 cup
  4. Olive oil-1ts
  5. Yeast-2ts
  6. Sugar-1ts
  7. Salt to taste 

Procedure:

  • Mix water,sugar & yeast together and let it rest for 5 minutes until yeast is dissolved.
  • Take wheat flour,all purpose flour,salt in a wide bowl.Add yeast mixture and water little by little & start kneading.
  • Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth & elastic.Flim it with little olive oil.
  • Let the dough rest for 1-2 hours until it's double.

  • Remove dough from bowl &place on a floured surface & knead again.
  • Take a round ball of dough and roll on a rolling pin.
  • Preheat oven to230'c and bake for 5-7 minutes.
  • Brush with olive oil and serve hot.
