Sattu Ka Paratha /Roasted Gram flour Paratha

Here is a Paratha recipe that one can die for'Sattu Ka paratha' is one of the most delicious flatbread  from the  state of Bihar in India and made from sattu with some spices.Spices add a nice flavour to this flatbread and a smile of satisfaction when you have it.This Paratha is a spicy,digestive,nutritious and a wholesome meal .Sattu can be easily available on any grocery store or you can prepare at home by grinding roasted channa dal to fine powder......I love the texture and the taste of this Paratha....simply tantalising!! I will actually recreate this Paratha again it was so ...Damn delicious and so perfect for this time of year.A hot  healthy and nutritious Paratha in a cold month with a cup of hot cardamom tea....Direct from the heart!I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by good neighbours always and I remember one of my neighbor from Bihar used to share with me  their authentic dishes Sattu Paratha,kachori ofcourse Littichokha Oh! I miss them so badly,I can still feel the taste ....So amazingly delicious  mouth -watering and drool inducing.......Yes it was typical Bihari food and it was the prime reason why my fondness towards the Bihari food culture developed.My friend told me the most important thing about this Paratha is that  we can use pickle masala and pickle oil from any of the mango pickles we have at our home. Pickle masala and oil is the key of this awesome Sattu parathas.This Paratha recipe although looks lengthy but it's quite simpler and so impressive that's why it should be on your weekly menu So take a note of recipe and enjoy the paratha and tell me about your experience....

Ingredients:

  1. Sattu/Roasted gram flour or Chanda dal flour -1/2cup
  2. Pickle masala-2ts
  3. Ghee-2ts
  4. Whole wheat flour-1cup
  5. Carom seeds-1 ts
  6. Dry mango powder-1/4 ts
  7. Chopped ginger and green chilli-1
  8. Pickle oil -1 ts

Procedure:

  • Knead the atta as you would do for roti.Keepaside for 10 minutes.
  • Take sattu in a bowl.Add pickle masala,salt,red chilli powder,dry amchur powder and mix well.
  • Then add chopped ginger and green chillies and carrom seeds/ajwain into the sattu.
  • Take a medium size ball of dough and roll it on a rolling pin.Fill the stuff and roll again in round circle.
  • Heat a tawa and place the paratha on tawa and fry well from both sides by applying ghee till it is browned and cooked.
  • Serve hot.
