Missi Roti/ Rajasthani flatbread

Rajasthan is a desert and winter gets very cold here.In Rajasthan people's are very fond of incorporating varieties of rotis in their meals along with diverse varieties of curry.People love to gather around the warmth of the kitchen fire to enjoy rustic,homely rotis right off the tawa.Every roti has its own unique flavour.Missi roti is a traditional multigrain roti from Rajasthan and These  Rotis are made with 2 kinds of flour gram flour & wheat flour with some dry spices and maturing methi.I always use2:1proportion of both flour Whole wheat flour and Gram flour.It is commonly enjoyed with curry dishes.........It is one of the most famous Rajasthani flatbread which will gives you a glimpse of traditional Rajasthani food.These rotis are the staple food in Rajasthan and this is the one which I grew up eating So I really make them a lot and I have made them a million times.Although ingredients and flavours are pretty simple but nothing can beat the taste of these Missi rotis when they all come together.I will only tell you that it's Yum Yum............These rotis not only satisfied people for longtime but also provides proteins and other nutrients to face the harsh weather. Now let's jump on this droolicious Rajasthani flatbread...


Ingredients:

  1. Whole wheat flour-1cup
  2. Besan/ gram flour -1cup
  3. Carom seeds/ ajwain- 1/2 ts
  4. Red chilli flakes-1/2 ts
  5. Dry Fenugreek leaves-Handful 

Procedure:

  • Combine whole  wheat flour,gram flour ,crom seeds ,red chilli flakes and salt and lots of kastoori methi / dry fenugreek leaves.Knead into a stiff dough using enough water.Take a dough of medium size and roll on a rolling pin.
  • Heat a tawa and cook each roti using atill ghee till they turn golden brown from both the sides.
  • Serve hot with Makhan / butter with curry of your choice.I usually serve it with Kadhi.
