Rava Idli with stir fry vegetables /Masala Idli
Rava Idli is a very popular South Indian breakfast dish which is very simple to prepare at home.Rava Idli is all time favourite easy breakfast recipe of mine and I'm sure many of yours because it doesn't require any elaborate grinding like the traditional Idli and can be prepared in a jiffy.
Masala Idli is made by giving little twist to your regular plain or rava Idli.So you can expect it to be even more delicious.This is one of my favourite way to eat Idli by adding stir fry vegetables to If which makes it a very versatile,healthy & satisfying dish.To make Masala Idli I am using rava Idli.
Ingredients:
- Sooji/semolina-1cup
- Curd-1/2cup
- Baking soda-1/4 ts
- ENO-1ts
- Chopped green chillies & ginger-1ts
- Chopped Cabbage-1 cup
- Onion-1med size
- Tomato-1med size
- Capsicum -1med size
Procedure:
- Take sooji in a bowl and Add curd or water if required to the mix and make a batter which is neither thin or thick.
- Add baking soda and eno in the batter and mix well.
- Pour the Idli batter in greased Idli mounds. Steam it in microwave fir 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the rava Idli from the mounds and serve it with chutney or tomato sauce.
- In Rajasthan ,rava Idli is served with Stir fry vegetables.
- For making masala Idli -Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds .
- When seeds pop add chopped green chillies,chopped onion and sauté till onion turn light brown.
- Then add chopped tomatoes and chopped capsicum sauté till softens.
- Add greated cabbage and spices (salt,turmeric powder,red chilli powder,Garamond masala ) mix well.Cook for4-5 minutes.
It is ready to use and mix this stir fry vegetables with plain rava Idli and serve.
