Instant Rawa Appe/Bite Size Semolina Snacks

Today I am bringing you Instant version of traditional South Indian snack Appe made of semolina which is typically made using rice flour and lentils.Appe are small round balls of goodness loaded with vegetables and made in Appe pan.I tend to make it more often because It is one of the instant easiest snack ,The procedure is very simple and very less oil used to prepare these Appe and the batter comes together in 5 minutes and You can add as many vegetables you like.
I have added chopped onions ,tomatoes,peas,capsicum and carrots.The only tip for making Appe is that before putting batter in Appe pan make sure skillet is hot enough and Always  cook the Appe on low flame to get a nice and crunchy outer crust.You can relish it with your choice of chutney or just plain and Make sure you serve it immediately otherwise outer crust tends to hard.



Ingredients:

  1. Dooming/semolina-1 cup
  2. Curd-1 cup
  3. Baking soda-1/2 ts
  4. Salt-As per your taste 
  5. Green chilli-1
  6. Chopped vegetables-onions,tomatoes,capsicum,peas,carrots 
  7. Chopped Coriander leaves-1/8 cup

Procedure:

  • In a large bowl take semolina along with curd and whisk well.Keepaside for 5-10 minutes.
  •   Preheat the Appe pan and lightly brush it with olive oil. Add chopped vegetables ,green chilli,salt,coriander leaves and baking soda in the batter.Then add little water and mix it well.The batter should be nice thick batter but with soft pouring consistency.

  • Once the Appe pan is hot take about 1 ts of batter and pour it in each of hemisphe indentation of Appe pan.Cover the lid and cook for 4-5 minutes or until bottom side is golden brown in colour. Flip the Appe and cook for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown in colour. 
  • Switchoff the flame and remove them out in a plate and Serve hot with tomato ketchup or Green chutney.
