Masala Chaas Or Spiced Buttermilk

Masala Chaas is a regal Rajasthani speciality different from the punjabi lassi.Chaas is commonly a Spiced buttermilk preparation or salted version of churned yogurt drink. It is something that often made at my home in scorching summer afternoons.I grew up eating a lot of yogurt even no lunch at my home is complete without it.......Traditionally Masala Chaas is prepared by blending yogurt in a earthen pot with an instrument called whipper or Madhani in Hindi and The liquid leftover extracting butter from churned yogurt is known as Chaas which is subtly Spiced with salt and spices. This rustic, refreshing chilled drink goes amazingly well with any meal.We definitely can't follow the traditional method to prepare Chaas .
For making Chaas I just mix everything together and blended it and then pour into the glasses and Chaas tastes good when it is churned more and more. The Chaas Masala and rock salt is what gives this drink its unique flavour. You can use store brought Chaas Masala or make it at your home according to your taste......,Though it is Lassi that gained global recognition but I feel Masala Chaas should also be given equal recognition!! Chaas is a cool, low fat and great thirst quencher on a hot day,Worth trying this summer and this is one such drink that you can make in advance,So make it ahead and chill it in the refrigerator and Enjoy...
