Ragda Patties/Potato Patties with Spicy Dried Peas Gravy

Ok!Here I am with the another famous street food from Maharashtra Ragda Patties ,A flavourful potatoes Patties topped with a zesty sauce made with dried white peas and Sweet & spicy chutneys.This is one of my favourite Maharashtrian food because it is not only healthy but also a complete meal all by itself...You can either have it for breakfast or snacks anyway it is perfect....At my home I often prepare this dish as weekend breakfast and this dish is easy to make once we do some preparation.
A little preplanning makes the work very easy for example it is flavored with tamarind date chutney So prepare this before and refrigerate it for later use.It hardly takes time to assemble and Each bite of the dish has sweetness tanginess,spiciness and so on. Ragda means "something semisolid " in hind thus it is not that liquidly and you can also serve this with samosa or sometimes pav or buns.....oh!My mouth is watering talking about this...So yumm!!Do give this hot and delicious Ragda Patties a try and enjoy.....

Ingredients:

  1. Dried white peas-1 cup
  2. Potatoes-3-4 piece
  3. Beetroot-1(optional)
  4. Chopped Coriander leaves-1 tsp
  5. Onion tomato purée-1/2 cup
  6. Chaat Masala-1/2 ts
  7. Tamarind date chutney-1/4 cup
  8. Sev/ farsan-1/4 cup
  9. Green chutney-1/4 cup
  10. Corn flour-2 ts

Procedure:

  • Soak the dried peas overnight and then pressure cook with salt ,turmeric powder ,chopped tomatoes and ginger for 3-4 whistle   Or until peas are cooked.Mash the peas slightly.
  • For making Patties- Boil ,peel and mash the potatoes & beetroot  into a bowl.Add corn flour , salt, chilli powder,Chaat masala & coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Make Patties from the mix and fry it on hot tawa till golden brown from both sides.
  • Before serving arrange the Patties in a plate,Pour the ragda and drizzle 3-4 ts of tamarind date chutney ,Green chutney,chopped onions,chopped coriander leaves ,sev and serve right way.
