My Version Of Homemade Hummus

Hummus is a popular middle eastern dip made from soaked & mashed chickpeas.Hummus means chickpea in Arabic,so it is not hummus without chickpeas.Hummus is proof that some of the best tasting things in life are the simplest to make.It can be rustled up with some ingredients and requires no cooking.This Is my version of Hummus because it is more of an idea than a recipe,play around the proportions,add some spices and make this recipe your own.

Ingredients:

  1. Soaked chickpeas-1 cup
  2. Roasted sesame seeds -1/3 cup
  3. Lemon juice-1 ts
  4. Garlic clove-4
  5. Roasted cumin powder-1/2 ts
  6. Red chilli powder-1/2 ts
  7. Olive oil-3-4ts
  8. Salt to taste 

Procedure:

  • In a bowl of food processor combine roasted sesame seeds paste,lemon juice and process for a minute.
  • Add minced garlic,cumin powder,salt and process for 30 seconds.Scrap the sides and bottom of the bowl.
  • Add soaked and drained chickpeas and process for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add red chilli powder,olive oil and 2-3ts water and process until you reach the perfect consistency.
  • Serve hummus with a drizzle of olive oil and dash of paprika.
