Paneer Tikka /Grilled Indian Cottage Cheese

If you ask any vegetarian about their one favourite Tandoori grill,I am sure Paneer Tikka would be the first choice.Paneer Tikka  is one of the the famous Indian starter made with marinated paneer and several vegetables.Though it includes many steps and lot of ingredients yet it is very simple recipe,Loaded with the goodness of cottage cheese and loads of vegetables...Everyone makes their own version and love it like that.I totally love the idea of tweaking recipe little bit here and there to make it up to your taste and ease.But apart from the variations ,Keeping the soul of recipe alive is what makes a good cook and This is one such food.Traditionally paneer tikka are made in Tandoor which gives it specific smoky and earthy taste.Having a Tandoor at home is not very feasible So I make it in the oven and still try to give the smoky flavour.
Tikka is a Punjabi word which means 'pieces 'So when the pieces of Paneer and vegetables marinated with curd and flavourful spices infuse the flavors inside each piece that leaves you on an amazing flavor ride with exotic aroma.If there is one thing I can't live without ,it's paneer...I have loved this creamy Indian cheese for all of my life...Making  paneer Tikka  at home is really simple Only you have to remember The longer you marinate tastier it is.It takes no time and comes out awesome every time you make them.


Ingredients:

  1. Paneer-250gm
  2. Capsicum-1large
  3. Onion-1large
  4. Tomato-1medium size
  5. Curd-200gm
  6. Ginger and garlic paste-1ts
  7. Olive oil-3 ts
  8. Kashmiri red chilli powder-1 to

Procedure:

  • In a large bowl take curd and whisk it well.
  • Add olive oil , ginger garlic paste and spices powder (red chilli powder1ts+roasted cumin powder 1/2ts+coriander powder 1ts+turmeric powder 1/2ts+Garam masala1ts+chaat masala 1ts+amchur powder 1ts+crushed black pepper 1/2ts) including black salt to taste.Mix well with the curd.
  • Add chopped onion,tomato ad paneer to the marinade.
  • Marinate for 2 hours in the freeze.
  • Remove after 2hours and bring the marinade to room temperature.Brush some oil on the veggies and paneer.
  • Skewer the veggies and paneer alternately on skewers or toothpicks.
  • Heat a Grill pan on medium high flame and drizzle over a teaspoon of oil.Place the marinated paneer and veggies on the tawa.When one side get brown then gently lift and turn over.
    Or Preheat the oven at 180'c and bake for 20-25 minutes.After 10 minutes turn the skewers and bake again.
  • Serve with green chutney.
